Ray’s Final Ride
You may love motorcycles, but you’ll never love them more than Arizona’s Ray Weser! At 101 years old, Weser’s lifelong love affair with motorcycles – Harley Davidsons, to be specific – goes all the way back to his very first run in with one as a young teen when while working on one he realized that he’d found the great love of his life.
Weser, who turns 102 in December and is also a proud military veteran, never stopped riding and eventually saw his love for Harleys lead him to a career with Harley-Davidson, where for 24 years he got to live out his boyhood dream of working with some of the finest machines ever crafted.
Last month, another one of Ray’s dreams came true as members of his community rallied around him with the help of the local VFW and Grand Canyon Harley-Davidson to grant the 101 year old veteran his final wish: one last ride on a Harley.
The thrill of a lifetime, Ray’s 15 minute ride on the back of a custom trike glide with 50 bikers in tow brought tears to the eyes of his family and friends and an ear to ear grin to the face of the man of the hour, who had spent the entire week leading up to his big ride positively giddy and resting up. His granddaughter says that she’s “pretty sure he thinks he’s died and gone to heaven already,” and judging by the look of sheer joy on Ray’s face, she’s right! Relive the magic of a community rallying to express their overwhelming love and gratitude for both Ray’s love of Harleys and his service to his country in the video below!
