ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons just released the performance video for “Missin’ Yo’ Kissin'” from his 2018 album “The Big Bad Blues.” Directed by Harry Reese, it was filmed on November 11, 2018 at the Aztec Theater in San Antonio, Texas. Gibbons is backed by Matt Sorum on drums, Austin Hanks on guitar, and Elwood Francis on harmonica.
Gibbons said, “In this temporary absence of raucous and rockin’ roadshow gatherings, here’s a little thing with a sneak peek to offer 3 minutes of bluesy-rock film entertainment for your viewing pleasure. “Missin’ Yo’ Kissin'” is an understatement. We await the moment to resume sharing some more good times for our loyal friends, fans, and followers…pronto… Bueno…! Enjoy, y’all…! – – – B F G”
The video has been largely forgotten and was only recently unearthed. It was Sorum who found it on his hard drive and shared it with the ZZ Top guitarist. And he wasted no time in sharing it on social media. Gibbons added, “It’s fortuitous that Matt remembered the video and fished it out of his stick bag last week. Now, more than ever, this is an exemplar of our go-to phrase ‘Blues You Can Use.'”
Gibbons’ second studio album “The Big Bad Blues” only peaked at #73 on the US Billboard 200 but it bagged the ‘Blues Rock Album of the Year’ at the 40th Blues Music Awards.
