Who needs Life on Mars when you can go for Life on Mustique instead?
Here’s another way to live like the Space Oddity legend — by going on a getaway in his 26-year-old five-bedroom tropical Caribbean villa. The $20-million mansion is now open for rent at anywhere between $40-$70k per week depending on the time of the year. That’s not so bad given that this fantastical house is spread out on 6.2 acres and has koi ponds, waterfalls, an infinity pool and a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean from the garden decks.
“I wanted something as unlike the Caribbean as possible,” said Bowie in the Eighties, explaining his home’s Indonesian look. “It’s a whim personified. I love a good cliché, and this house, for me, is just the most delightful cliché. What you have to realise is that Mustique is a fantasy island.”
The lavish Indonesian-style hideaway has various decorative elements personally handpicked by The Man Who Sold The World. After being bought by Simon Dolan, an entrepreneur and Bowie fan himself, there were very few changes to the extravagant holiday home — just a few furnishing upgrades. Most of the original lavish interiors have been retained.

So, is there anyone going to this fantasy island anytime soon?
