She’s Slowing Down

At 87 years old, the reclusive widow of John Lennon, Yoko Ono, is starting to slow things down by stepping back and handing things over to their son Sean Lennon. According to The Mirror, he’s taking over her business interests in The Beatles and has just been appointed director of eight companies . Since John’s death in 1980, it’s Yoko Ono who’s been managing his $800million fortune. But for over a year, she hasn’t made a public appearance and when she does leave her New York home, she’s often spotted using a wheelchair.

The companies include Apple Corps, Lensolo which manages the rights to the late rocker’s solo material, Maclen which publishes his work in the United States, and Subafilms.

Yoko Ono talked about an “illness” during one of her last public appearances in 2017 but has not shared any other information about it.

According to a spokesman, “Yoko continues to oversee John’s estate but has drafted in Sean as a director to assist where necessary.”

In a 2018 interview with NME, Yoko Ono said: “People have to be creative and what they can do is make an incredible pure sound and as you know, sound vibration goes everywhere and breaks the sky as well.”
