According to Vince Gill, the current Eagles lineup isn’t planning on recording new songs. In an interview with Cleveland.com. Gill tells,

“There doesn’t seem to be any kind of attempt at that, and I think that’s pretty healthy.”

Gill also reveals how Don Henley offered to add one of his own songs to the Eagles’ upcoming tour. He said,

“Don was nice enough to say, ‘Hey, let’s do one of your songs,’”

but he turned it down because he feels their shows should focus on the classics fans expect to hear.

“I said, ‘With all due respect, I’d rather not.’ I’m already stepping into a place where a lot of people may not be that accepting of me. The last thing I want to do is give them one more reason to say, ‘I didn’t come here to hear his songs, too. I just came to hear Eagles songs!’ So, we’ve kind of kept it at that, which seems to make the most sense.”

A lot of fans were surprised when Gill joined the Eagles in 2017 following the sudden death of Glenn Frey. He made his concert debut with the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers on July 15, 2017, in a new lineup that includes Deacon Frey.

On their upcoming tour in February, the Eagles will be performing their classic LP Hotel California in its entirety and Gill will be the lead vocals on the tune “Try and Love Again.”
