We all thought that the downtime of concerts are finally over, well it’s not. Some artists are still deciding to cancel their shows due to the risk of COVID-19. One of them is Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets, who has postponed their North American tour for 2022.

According to an official statement posted on Twitter, the decision was made,

“with great regret… due to the uncertainty surrounding the Covid pandemic,”

Just two months ago, when the tour was first announced, Mason said,

“We enjoyed our 2019 tour in America so much,”

and added,

“We’re happy to be back at it and playing Pink Floyd music fans may have never had the chance to experience live.”

In 2018, Saucerful of Secrets was formed and they focus primarily on the early music of Pink Floyd. Other members of the band are Spandau Ballet guitarist Gary Kemp, longtime Pink Floyd touring bassist Guy Pratt, guitarist Lee Harris and keyboardist Dom Beken.

The continuing cases of the coronavirus with its new variant has caused a lot of recent cancellations, especially in places with large populations. Other artists who made the same decision to postpone their shows are LCD Soundsystem, the Strokes, Patti Smith, and Phish.

“This variant’s ability for rapid transmission is unprecedented,”

Phish said in a statement posted to the their website.

“We are also mindful that a significant number of people travel for these shows and then return to their communities, and we want to avoid accelerating transmission of the virus.”
