Ian Anderson expressed his admiration for Lou Gramm‘s work and humorously mentioned that he was glad the former lead singer of Foreigner couldn’t play the flute.

During a recent interview with Spin, the Jethro Tull frontman, known for his playful remark about “standing on one flute playing my leg,” discussed his favorite albums. And one of the included albums is the Foreigner compilation titled No End in Sight from 2008.

“I came to Foreigner quite late, but grew to rate Lou Gramm as the best tenor rock singer of all time,” He said while praising Gramm’s “perfect intonation, diction, and ornamentation.” He then jokingly remarked:

“Thank God he can’t play the flute!”

Anderson clarified that his preference lies in purchasing compilations because they provide him with a comprehensive overview of various artists and music genres spanning different eras. He mentioned that he prefers to download and pay for music on his phone or computer. Anderson believes listening to music with good headphones or speakers is important to fully enjoy it.

However, he admitted that he isn’t a big fan of music and prefers reading news, politics, and current affairs. Occasionally, he likes to read Scandinavian crime novels or books by Stephen King.

Meanwhile, Jethro Tull pleased fans with the publication of their latest album, RokFlote, last year, marking a historic milestone as their 23rd studio album. They are now gearing up for a tour in the United States starting on August 18th. Fans are excited to see them perform live and experience their timeless music.
