2015 is undeniably the banner year for AC/DC. With a music career spanning for more than four decades, their tickets sold like pancakes. Releasing their Rock or Bust album (which debuted at number 3 on Billboard’s album chart in 2014), performing during the Grammy Awards (an intense and explosive number, by the way) and headlining Coachella may have helped boost their sales. They didn’t just prove that age and time has nothing on them but that they can still pretty much dominate the music scene even though Malcolm Young was replaced by nephew Stevie and Chris Slade was officially behind the kit in lieu of Phil Rudd.

With a total of 2.31 million tickets sold, they beat pop sensation and social media sweetheart Taylor Swift’s 2.27 million. Although they played 15 more shows (50 cities, 54 shows) than Swift, it’s still a number to beat. Besides, Swift wouldn’t mind since her total gross sales is at $250.4 million compared to AC/DC’s $180 million.

Coming strong at the third spot is Dave Grohl and the rest of the Foo Fighters with 1.7 million tickets sold. But for the gross sales, here are the performers in the top 10.

  • #3: One Direction with $158.8 million
  • #4: U2 with $152.2 million
  • #5: Foo Fighters with $127 million
  • #6: Fleetwood Mac with $125.1 million
  • #7: Ed Sheeran with $117.3 million
  • #8: Kenny Chesney with $116.4 million
  • #9: Garth Brooks with $114.9 million
  • #10: Rolling Stones with $109.7 million

In 2016, AC/DC will kick off their tour on February 2. It will be a total of 20 shows in just 60 days!
