The school that taught kids rock ‘n’ roll, School of Rock, will be turning 20 years this fall, and lead actor Jack Black has plans to celebrate the occasion.
Since its theatrical release on October 3, 2003, School of Rock has been one of the most iconic films Black has ever made. His character Dewey Finn made us all want to have him as a teacher and teach us how to “stick it to the Man,” and that “you’re not hardcore unless you live hardcore.”
Recently, the actor revealed there are plans for a 20th-anniversary reunion of the cast this year. Black explained in a statement:
“All those kids — dig this — they were 10 years old when we made that movie and now they’re all, like, 30.
“We’re gonna get together and have a 20-year anniversary. We like to jam. I’m looking forward to seeing all of the grownups from School of Rock.”
Aside from Black, his co-stars Joan Cusack, Mike White, and Sarah Silverman, are expected to appear in their upcoming reunion. While earlier this year, Black shared in an interview that he had been “thinking about” doing sequels for both School of Rock and Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny, but some of the cast won’t be there anymore.
In 2021, Kevin Clark, who played drummer Freddy “Spazzy McGee” Jones in the film, passed away at the age of 32 after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle. While another member of the cast, Joey Gaydos Jr., was arrested in 2019 and facing felony charges for stealing guitars in Florida.
Meanwhile, two of the cast members, Caitlin Hale, who played Marta, and Angelo Massagli, who played Frankie, revealed in 2021 that they started dating.
Whatever Black and the rest of the cast plan for their upcoming reunion, fans will surely look forward to it.
