Megadeth’s first show with returning bassist James LoMenzo in 12 years took place on August 20 at Germania Insurance Amphitheater in Austin, Texas as they launched their Metal Tour of the Year with Lamb of God. LoMenzo has replaced David Ellefson following the latter’s dismissal from the band.

LoMenzo played with Megadeth from 2006 to 2010, and he appeared on 2007’s United Abominations and 2009’s Endgame. After rejoining Megadeth, it’s still unclear whether LoMenzo will replace Ellefson in the studio too. Watch the fan-shot footage of the concert below.

Megadeth Setlist 8/20/2021

“Tornado of Souls”
“Sweating Bullets”
“Trust”
“Conquer or Die!”
“Dystopia”
“Symphony of Destruction”
“Peace Sells”
“Mechanix”

Earlier this year, Ellefson was involved in a scandal after sexually explicit videos and messages circulated online. He allegedly groomed an underage fan. He has since denied it, and the woman involved also came forward denying the same thing. Ellefson even sought to press charges against the one who leaked the clips and screenshots.

However, Megadeth decided they didn’t want any part in it. They eventually announced that they were firing Ellefson, and they even removed the bass parts he recorded for their upcoming album.
