So Good Even Bassist Tom Hamilton Praised It

American rock band Dirty Honey played at the Troubadour nightclub in West Hollywood, California on November 22, 2019. Their setlist is mostly made up originals but they added in a cover for Aerosmith’s “Last Child”. They eventually recorded their version in RCA Studios in Nashville, Tennessee and released it via Amazon Original Music.

It’s no secret that one of Dirty Honey’s influences is Aerosmith.

“The first time I heard ‘Last Child’ by Aerosmith was probably around the time I discovered Aerosmith”, singer Marc Labelle recalled in an Amazon Music interview, “I first heard Toys in the Attic and Permanent Vacation, those albums were my introduction to the band. Soon after that, I was so hooked.”

“That’s sort of what we’re going for, we wanna make music that has soul, and has a live feel and has a performance element to it instead of perfectly in-tune vocals and perfectly played guitar solos,” he added. “That’s our philosophy for everything we do — we’re trying to capture performance, not perfection.”

Dirty Honey got their seal of approval when Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton praised their cover and tweeted, “Just heard Dirty Honey’s cover of ‘Last Child.’ Really good!”
