Can you smell the rock and roll? Well, Tony Iommi sure can. The Black Sabbath lead guitarist just launched his first music in 8 years. The instrumental track “Scent of Dark” was out together with his signature perfume with the same name as the song.
Iommi’s perfume is a collaboration for the Italian luxury perfume brand Xerjoff. It all started when he met Sergio Momo, an acclaimed perfumer and designer for Xerjoff from another friend named Jimmy Crutchley who played the bass on the track. Momo also contributed a guitar piece on the song.
From there, they began exploring scents that would create the fragrance that Tony wants thus the birth of the Scent of Dark. At first, he thought people would tell him that he’s gone mad when they find out that he’s into perfumes now, but Tony said to be interested with fragrances even back in the early days of Black Sabbath.
“It’s been a really interesting project for me that has combined many of my different interests and a direction I’m really enjoying going in,”
Tony said.
“I’ve got so many riffs; it would be great to do more instrumental and soundtrack work.”
He added.
Tony also confirmed to be working with former bandmate Ozzy Osbourne for another project. Surely, a lot of exciting things are happening with Tony right now. — Whether it’s for music or perfumes.
