Just A Bunch Of Extremely Talented Friends
We just found ourselves waiting and getting excited for Jimmy Page’s “On This Day” photo series on Instagram. Not only does he share pictures from years past but also untold stories about his life, career, performances, and moments with fellow rockstars.
In one of his posts, he shared a little tale about him and Yardbirds bandmate Eric Clapton. They weren’t in the same lineup though because Clapton recommended Page to replace him when he announced his departure from the band.
Page wrote on the caption:
On this day in 1965, I went to see @johnmayallofficial & the Bluesbreakers at the Pontiac Club in Putney, London. It showcased @ericclapton magnificent mastery of the blues guitar. Eric came to stay at my home in Epsom that night as I had told him about the recordings and guitar sound I was getting from my Simon recorder. We played together and tracks surfaced on the ‘Blues Anytime’ series on Immediate Records. I went on to produce ‘I’m Your Witchdoctor’ and ‘Telephone Blues’ with Mayall and Clapton, as well as ‘Sitting on Top of the World’ and ‘Double Crossing Time’.
How many of you knew he produced these tracks? Don’t you wish he’ll collaborate with Clapton and Jeff Beck again? We’d love to see them back on stage and performing together!
