In celebration of the Rolling Stones‘ 60th anniversary, LEGO will be releasing a new set honoring the band’s iconic tongue and lips logo on June 1.

The popular logo was first seen on the album 1971 Sticky Fingers. Now, fans can have it in their homes as a 1,998-piece LEGO set that will also include a soundtrack and an exclusive interview with the logo creator, John Pasche.

The graphic designer was recommended by his professor at London’s Royal College of Art and was sent a letter from the Stone’s London office asking him to make the logo. He later told the Victoria & Albert Museum in London that his main goal was “to represent the band’s anti-authoritarian attitude, Mick’s mouth and obvious sexual connotations,” and an image that would “easily reproduced and in a style which I thought could stand the test of time.”

Surely, it did. People recognize the logo not just in Stone’s album, but in almost every merchandise that represents rock and roll, and now with LEGO.

The LEGO Group said via statement:

“Since the tongue logo is one of the most recognized logos, our biggest challenge was to figure out how we could get the LEGO Art design as close to the original as possible.

“Previous sets have been created with 1×1 round LEGO tiles as a mosaic, but this time, in the spirit of being more Rock ‘n’ Roll, we have used the full spectrum of LEGO bricks to capture the organic curves that John created.”

The “LEGO Art the Rolling Stones” set will be available June 1st at LEGO.com and all LEGO retailers. See the photos below.
