Kiss dropped a bomb by recently introducing their avatars. And now fans are excited about the news of catching these iconic rockstars on the virtual stage.
The hype began on December 2 when Kiss wrapped up their End of the Road tour with a bang in their hometown, New York. Frontman Paul Stanley got everyone feeling sentimental, saying:
“The end of this road is the beginning of another road.”
Right after the human Kiss left the stage, the avatar version popped up on the screen with a teaser, “A new era begins.”
After confirming plans for avatar performances, Kiss took to social media to announce when this digital dream will become a reality. A clip shows Gene Simmons getting all pumped for the future, mixed in with fan clips expressing their love for Kiss. The big reveal comes with flashy graphics shouting, “2027. A show is coming.”
Behind the Scenes on Kiss Avatars
As expected, Kiss fans have mixed reactions to the virtual band’s debut. Some say it messes with the live concert vibe, while others see it as a cool way for the band to keep rocking forever.
The whole project is a big deal, with George Lucas’ Industrial Light & Magic taking the lead on creating these virtual Kiss versions.
Although fans have only seen snippets, the avatars will keep evolving in appearance and how they interact with the crowd.
Simmons also admitted to the colossal effort, mentioning a jaw-dropping $200 million investment to crank up the animated experience.
“They’re gonna get better, that animated stuff. There’s so much being planned, even beyond my comprehension. They’re spending, oh, about 200 million [dollars] to take it to the next level.”
