The Easybeats Have Fun In The City With “Friday On My Mind”
via YouTube Channel (Beat-Club)
Friday On His Mind
Co-written by George Young and Harry Vanda, “Friday On My Mind” was the band’s first hit outside of Australia that reached #16 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1967.
Interesting Fact: George Young is the elder brother of AC/DC’s Angus and Malcolm Young.
After making hit after hit in ’65, the Easybeats were finally able to see and share their music with the rest of the world with an international distribution deal in ’66. As lead singer Stevie Wright, seems to be having a seriously great time singing this upbeat, fun tune, The Easybeats were responsible for their own fever (easyfever) that infected Australia, just as the Beatles were responsible for affecting Britain with “Beatlemania.”
Discussing the fun night on the town he is going to have with his girl, Stevie shines in this live performance of the first international Easybeat hit with a huge smile on his face that it seems no one could steal from him.
+ Friday On My Mind Lyrics +
Monday mornin’ feels so bad
Ev’rybody seems to nag me
Comin’ Tuesday I feel better
Even my old man looks good
Wed’sday just don’t go
Thursday goes too slow
I’ve got Friday on my mind
Gonna have fun in the city
Be with my girl, she’s so pretty
She looks fine tonight
She is out of sight to me
Tonight I’ll spend my bread, tonight
I’ll lose my head, tonight
I’ve got to get to night
Monday I’ll have Friday on my mind
Do the five day grind once more
I know of nothin’ else that bugs me
More than workin’ for the rich man
Hey! I’ll change that scene one day
Today I might be mad, tomorrow I’ll be glad
‘Cause I’ll have Friday on my mind
Gonna have fun in the city
Be with my girl, she’s so pretty
She looks fine tonight.
She is out of sight to me
Tonight I’ll spend my bread, tonight
I’ll lose my head, tonight
I’ve got to get to night
Monday I’ll have Friday on my mind
