It’s Gonna Be Their Year!
The Cure’s last album was 4:13 Dream which they released back in 2008 – that’s over a decade ago! But it seems like we’re about to hear new material from them soon enough. In a recent appearance of lead singer Robert Smith on The John Maytham Show, he confirmed that work on their highly anticipated new album is done.
He revealed:
“We’ve enjoyed [the shows] and we’ve just recorded a new album for the first time in 10 years. I’m still doing this for the right reasons.
“We cover different styles of music, but because it’s us doing it, it sounds like us.”

However, it wasn’t long before he clarified to 5FM that their upcoming album is still a work in progress. He said:
“We’ve just started, not quite finished, recording our first new album for 10 years.”

It will be quite a year for The Cure since they will be inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year and they will also headline the Glastonbury Festival which will run from June 26 to 30. That’s not all.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of their highest selling album “Disintegration,” they’re set to play four shows at Vivid Live at the Sydney Opera House in May.
