Taylor Hawkin’s Toxicology Suggests Lethal Overdose Cause

An early toxicology report has been released stating that Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins had 10 different psychoactive substances in his system the night he died in Bogota, Columbia at the age of 50.

Hawkins was reportedly found dead in his hotel room in Bogota, where the band was scheduled to perform at the Festival Estereo Picnic. Foo Fighters released a statement on Saturday that read:

“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever. Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.”

Hawkins was said to have suffered from chest pains when an ambulance responded to an emergency call, according to Bogata’s Secretariat of Health statement earlier today.

Following the preliminary toxicology tests that have found 10 substances, including marijuana, tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines and opioids, Hawkins’ death was categorized as an overdose as stated by the Office of the Attorney General of Colombia.

Five days before his death, Hawkins played his final show with Foo Fighters on March 20 at Lollapalooza Argentina. During one of the performances that night, Dave Grohl called Hawkins to take the mic and said:

“You know the best thing about Taylor Hawkins, he’s the best fucking drummer in the world. We love him so much.”

Hawkins is survived by his wife Alison and their three children, Oliver, Annabelle and Everleigh.
