Stevie Ray Vaughan’s Critically Acclaimed “Change It” Performance Will Blow You Away

Stevie Ray Vaughan’s Critically Acclaimed “Change It” Performance Will Blow You Away | Society Of Rock Videos

Live From The Capitol Theatre, 1985

Featured on Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble’s 1985 album Soul To Soul, ‘Change It’ wasn’t released as an exclusive single from the album, but soared in popularity thanks to its heavy video rotation on MTV. It’s one that features the writing talents of Stevie’s late friend and collaborator Doyle Bramhall, and it’s far and away one of our favorites! Stevie is absolutely electric in this rare 1985 performance of ‘Change It,’ from his sparkly outfit to the blistering solo he delivers to the crowd right around 3:25 – there’s not a single moment of this performance where your focus isn’t on Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Fun Fact: ‘Change It’ was later featured on Doyle Bramhall’s 1994 album, Bird Nest On The Ground.

It’s often said that Stevie was a triple threat: he played, he sang, he wrote, and he excelled at each one. This performance of ‘Change It’ embodies everything that the music industry came to hold Stevie in such high esteem for, complete with powerhouse vocals, an almost supernatural gift for the guitar, and a magnetic stage presence that forced you to sit up and pay attention!

+ Change It lyrics +

You can’t change it
Can’t re-arrange it
If time is all that we got
Then baby, let’s take it

Lovin’ is a lovin’
The moment is alright
It’s worth all the years in the past
Let’s go one more night

Get away from the blind side of life
Honey, I want you to be by my side
Me an’ my back door moves ain’t no more
No more

Get away from the blind side of life
Honey, I want you to be by my side
Me an’ my back door moves ain’t no more
No more

Get away from the blind side of life
Honey, I want you to be by my side
Me an’ my back door moves ain’t no more
No more

Goodnight my darlin’
Another day has passed
Forget all those painful memories
Our love’s gonna last

Come to me baby
Come to me one more time
It’s time we got movin’
Time to move on

Let’s slide out the door
Let’s slide out the door
Ride our way home
Let’s glide our way home

Let’s go, let’s go
Let’s go, let’s go
Let’s go, let’s go
I’ve come back for more
