Stevie Nicks Featured On New Gorillaz Track “Oil” | Society Of Rock Videos

The known virtual band Gorillaz has released their newest song, “Oil,” which features the icon Stevie Nicks as their guest vocalist.

The legendary Fleetwood Mac singer performs with the virtual band, which is led by Blur’s Damon Albarn, as announced last year. Before giving her “yes” to this collaboration, Nicks stated that her “one demand” was to become one of the group’s parodies. She previously stated:

“I want to be a gorilla, right? I want to have blonde hair and big, fake eyelashes, too.”

Now, Nicks got her request and although the promo video has not yet been released, the band shared a “fact card” on Twitter that listed Nicks’ “cult ranking,” “freakiness,” and “G factor.” Lead singer 2-D (played by Albarn) also published a personal note to Nicks, saying:

“Just writing a little letter to say ‘alright,’ which I’ve now done, also I wanted to say I am a big fan of yours and that you made the song we did together very beautiful and the whole record is a different record cos you are on it. Have a nice week, fingers crossed for world peace and please pop round anytime if you fancy a cuppa or game of pacman.”

A few days ago, Gorillaz released their latest album Cracker Island, which includes the song “Oil.” It marks their seventh album which features appearances from artists like Beck and Tame Impala. Kate Bush was his “holy grail” for future collaboration, according to Albarn, who explained that she called him after Gorillaz headlined Glastonbury and received unfavorable reviews. He recalled:

“[Bush] said it was one of the best shows she’d ever seen.

“That was an amazing thing and I really needed it at that moment because I was feeling particularly vulnerable.” He added: “I have fantasized about singing at the piano with her several times. I remember when I first met her, it was back in 1992; and when I was introduced to her, I just got down on my knees.”
