Julien’s Auctions once again proved why it’s the go-to name for music memorabilia with the second day of its star-studded “Music Icons” auction. Held at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square, the two-day event wrapped up on Sunday, May 31, and offered fans the chance to bid on nearly 700 rare and legendary items. From guitars played onstage to iconic wardrobe pieces, the auction celebrated decades of music history with jaw-dropping results.

From Steven Tyler’s Keys to Christine McVie’s Watch

Aerosmith fans went wild for Steven Tyler’s stage-used keyboard, famously played during “Dream On.” The iconic instrument sold for a whopping $130,000. Eric Clapton’s Martin Crossroads acoustic guitar wasn’t far behind, going for $52,000. Christine McVie’s classy Patek Philippe Aquanaut wristwatch also drew attention, selling for $35,750. Guitar lovers were thrilled to see Django Reinhardt’s 1938 Levin De Luxe archtop guitar fetch $35,000, and a 1953 Fender Telecaster once owned by Chips Moman and used by Waylon Jennings brought in $29,250.

Stage Outfits and Superstar Scribbles

Music history isn’t only about instruments. Fans of fashion snapped up Cher’s dazzling 1975 Bob Mackie stage outfit for $13,000 and Dolly Parton’s sparkling jumpsuit from “Hee Haw” for $15,000. Amy Winehouse’s floral dress from a 2007 interview sold for $22,750, while Lady Gaga’s “House of Gucci” dress fetched $5,200. Even handwritten keepsakes got love—Madonna’s letter to a college roommate went for $16,250, and a drawing by Stevie Nicks pulled in $5,850.

Handwritten lyrics also made waves, including Noel Gallagher’s “Champagne Supernova” lyrics at $10,400 and a 1991 Nirvana setlist penned by Kurt Cobain that earned $13,000. Speaking of Cobain, parts of the MELVINS’ tour van, decorated by the late Nirvana frontman himself, sold for $26,000.

A Global Hit for Collectors

Top-ticket items kept rolling in: Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus signed a Daisy Rock guitar that went for $104,000, while a program from the 1985 Live Aid concert signed by legends like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Madonna went for $22,750. A Gibson Les Paul guitar signed and played by Aerosmith’s Joe Perry pulled in $58,500, and a Boss effects pedal used by Kurt Cobain sold for $16,250.
“Julien’s Auctions continues to solidify its position as the global leader in music, entertainment, and celebrity auctions,” the organizers noted. And based on this unforgettable auction, they’re absolutely right.
