The song was originally written by Danny Whitten of Crazy Horse. Stewart’s 1977 cover became a huge success, reaching number one on the UK Singles Chart. While the track became one of his most well-known songs, Stewart admitted he no longer feels the same excitement for it.

Although he recognizes the beauty of the ballad, the singer has grown tired of performing it. He told Mojo, “I don’t want to talk about it anymore.” He added, “It’s been overplayed, and after all these years, it’s almost become a burden.” Over the decades, the song became a staple in his concerts, almost expected by fans at every show.

This pressure to keep it in the setlist is what seems to weigh on Stewart the most. While many fans cherish the song, Stewart now sees it more as an obligation than a joy. Its repeated performance over time has made it lose some of its original meaning for him.
