Whether you’re a casual fan, a Marvel die-hard or don’t dig comics in the slightest, there’s no denying that Stan Lee’s legacy extends far, far beyond the characters that sprang to life from the depths of his imagination.
The 95-year-old comic book legend died yesterday, leaving behind universes beyond our wildest dreams and a challenge to dream – dream big, and dream even bigger ways to bring those dreams to life, something Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler understands all too well.
Tyler, 70, took to social media to remember Lee, thanking him for changing his life and calling him “one of the world’s greatest superheroes”. The tribute came with a photo of Tyler with Lee and bandmate Joe Perry, a fond memory of a man so larger than life that even one of the biggest rockstars on the planet couldn’t do anything but smile like a kid on Christmas morning.
“THE UNIVERSES YOU CREATED…CHANGED OUR 🌎 !!! THEY CHANGED MY LIFE! THANK YOU FOR BRINGING YOUR CURIOUSITY [sic] AND FANTASIES TO LIFE AND INTO OUR LIVES…YOU ARE ONE OF THE WORLD’S GREATEST SUPERHEROES @therealstanlee WE LOVE YOU WE THANK YOU 🙏🏼 ♥️🙏🏼” wrote Tyler.
Fans were quick to share their own memories of Stan Lee, sharing comment after comment about how the late comic creator helped shape their lives, too.
One fan drew a direct parallel between Tyler and Lee’s careers, saying, “Creator of great insight brought the world together even now. It is a true Master [sic] a genius that can accomplish this. Stan Lee Legacy will always continue till [sic] the end of time. Rest in peace you will be missed.”
