A Beautiful Pair
After the separation from Journey, the one and only Steve Perry took his beautiful voice on the road in ’94 on his For the Love of Strange Medicine World Tour. Performing hit “Foolish Heart” in New York, Steve shines brighter than ever with his always pristine vocals and powerful stage presence.
Interesting Fact: The music video for “Foolish Heart” is unique in the fact that it is one continuous shot from beginning to end
Written with songwriter Randy Goodrum, Steve Perry recorded “Foolish Heart” in one day with the legendary, Nashville- inspired songwriter and talent on keyboards. With just a 4- track tape player in Perry’s tiny writing room with a Fender-Rhodes and a little Linn machine, the unlikely pair’s combination resulted in the creation of four of Perry’s songs in just 4 days time.
After returning to the studio to record the demo for real, the two struggled to emulate the raw, beautiful quality that the 4- track recording held, until they eventually realized they needed the hired band to utilize the exact same interments as they had. Finally released in 1994, “Foolish Heart” reached #18 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #2 on the Adult Contemporary chart in February 1985.
