Steve Hackett Recovers and Gives Health Update After Hospitalization | Society Of Rock Videos

Following an unplanned hospital stay ahead of his scheduled concert in Phoenix, former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett recently gave fans peace of mind over his health. The performance by the 74-year-old performer, who was scheduled to perform at the Celebrity Theatre as part of his Foxtrot at Fifty + Hackett Highlights tour, was postponed due to an unspecified circumstance.

Hackett took to Facebook to provide an update on his condition, accompanied by a photo from the hospital. He explained:

“Hello everyone, I’m so sorry for the scare. I’d hoped to power through the Phoenix show, but I had a bronchial infection and a last-minute adverse reaction to medication. Consequently, the medics took me to hospital. I am now recovering and glad to be feeling OK. I was very sad to miss the show and I will return to play in Phoenix as soon as possible. My thanks to you all for your understanding and support.”

The incident has prompted Hackett’s fans to express their well-wishes and support for his swift recovery. Promoter Danny Zelisko Presents is diligently working to reschedule the postponed performance.

Reflecting on his musical journey, Hackett has remained active with a series of solo albums, including his latest release, The Circus and the Nightwhale, which came out in February. Despite his solo ventures, Hackett has also revisited his time with Genesis, the iconic band he was part of from 1971 to 1977.

In an interview with The Arizona Republic, Hackett emphasized the importance of balancing nostalgia with creativity. He said:

“I’m keeping the museum doors open in the revisited sense of Genesis, but also doing new stuff to keep it vital so I don’t entirely pension myself off into a glorious past with all those lovely exhibits — beautiful though they are, but they are of a certain time-warp value.”

Foxtrot, a seminal album by Genesis, marked a significant milestone in the band’s career as it became their first album to chart in the United Kingdom. Reflecting on the album’s significance, Hackett shared his enthusiasm for performing it live. “Foxtrot was a terrific achievement for Genesis at the time. There’s not one weak track on the album, they all have their strong points and I’m looking forward to performing the whole album live,” he stated in an interview with Ramzine in 2022.

As Hackett recuperates, fans eagerly await his return to the stage, eager to witness his timeless musical prowess and celebrate the legacy of Foxtrot and his enduring contributions to the world of music.
