Sebastian Bach and Others Reflect on Rock Life

Twisted Sister have taken a decisive step into their next chapter, enlisting Sebastian Bach as frontman following the retirement of Dee Snider earlier this year.
In an interview with Classic Rock magazine, Bach revealed that his entry into the band began with a discreet trip to New York for two days of closed-door rehearsals. The sessions quickly confirmed what both sides had anticipated—that the collaboration had immediate chemistry and potential.
Unleashing the Energy of the Catalog
Bach spoke candidly about his approach to performing the band’s material, emphasizing the raw intensity he brings to the role. “When I sing Twisted Sister music, I’m like a steamroller,” he said. “I’m a beast. I’m out of control.”
Guitarist Jay Jay French reinforced that confidence, noting that Bach’s ability was never in question. “The question was not whether Sebastian could do this, I knew that he could,” French said. “He was phenomenal.”
French also disclosed that he entered rehearsals while managing a medical condition that had prevented him from playing guitar for extended periods over the past decade. Even so, he confirmed that the sessions went smoothly, adding, “And it was all absolutely fine.”
Facing Fan Expectations and Moving Forward
The transition has not come without emotional weight. French acknowledged that he and guitarist Eddie Ojeda share the uncertainty felt by fans following Snider’s departure. “We know that it brings up a lot of existential questions, such as should we even be doing this at all without Dee,” he said.
Still, French maintained that evolution is part of a band’s lifespan.
“We believe that if a band can move forward, then it should do so. Although, of course, the public is in command of whether or not it will be successful.”
Pointing to precedent, he added:
“But let me remind you, without Freddie Mercury nobody gave Queen a chance in hell, and the same with Journey minus Steve Perry or the David Lee Roth-less Van Halen, and look what happened there.”
The reconfigured lineup will make its live debut on September 4 at the Borealis Theatre, marking the first public test of Twisted Sister’s new era, with additional dates expected to follow.
