Schoolkids Stun Stevie Nicks Into Silence With Unbelievable “Landslide” Performance
PS22’s Guest Of Honor
Rock’s fairy godmother Stevie Nicks got a taste of her own magic when the kids at New York’s PS22 serenaded her with her own song. When PS22 performed ‘Landslide’ for the first time, they sent a video of the performance to Stevie…who was absolutely blown away and cried each time she made her tour manager replay it for her! Needless to say, she was more than happy to accept PS22’s exclusive invitation to watch them perform this Fleetwood Mac classic, and after watching this video, we’re not sure who had more fun – Stevie or the kids!
Fun Fact: Stevie even stuck around to give every kid a hug and a high 5, encouraging them to reach for their dreams, no matter the cost.
‘Landslide’ is one of Fleetwood Mac’s most emotional songs; a song about change, whether it’s embracing it or being fearful of it, the song’s poignant message shines through especially clearly when sung by children who have only begun to scratch the surface of life. When sung from Stevie’s perspective, it’s like she’s looking back on her life and marveling at the things she’s survived. When sung from the perspective of a choir of elementary school students, suddenly ‘Landslide’ becomes a song that marvels at the adventures to come, never once worrying about how things are going to pan out – just that they will, and it will be okay.
+ Landslide lyrics +
I took my love, I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
Till the landslide brought me down
Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
Mmm, mmm, mmm
Well, I’ve been afraid of changing
‘Cause I’ve built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older and I’m getting older too
Well, I’ve been afraid of changing
‘Cause I’ve built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older and I’m getting older too
Oh, I’m getting older too
Awh, take my love, take it down
Awh, climb a mountain and turn around
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well, the landslide bring it down
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well, the landslide bring it down
Oh, the landslide bring it down
