Santana and Michelle Branch perform The Game Of Love

Santana and Michelle Branch perform The Game Of Love | Society Of Rock Videos

This is why I LOVE Santana.

Not only is Carlos Santana a musical genius, his collaborations are always so much fun and so addicting!

In 2002, “The Game of Love” was released on the album Shaman. Michelle Branch was responsible for the vocal performance on the track and absolutely nailed it. With Carlos’ sultry guitar riffs, and Branch’s powerful voice, is was a match made in collaboration heaven!

The song was launched as a single, and later won a Grammy for “Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals“, as well as  coming in at number five on The Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

Fun Fact! Tina Turner originally recorded the track for Santana, though this version remained unreleased until October 16, 2007, where it was featured on Ultimate Santana, with the Branch version also appearing on the effort.

Although Branch went on a bit of a hiatus (she got married, and had a baby) she recently confirmed on Twitter that she had been working on a new record in London, and the rest of the album will be recorded in Nashville for a pop-rock sound. Sounds like our kinda gal! Cant wait to see what she does next!

+++++LYRICS+++++

Tell me
Just what you want me to be
One kiss
And boom you’re the only one for me
So please tell me
Why don’t you come around no more?
‘Cause right now
I’m crying outside the door of your candy store

It just takes a little bit of this, a little bit of that
It started with a kiss
Now we’re up to bat
A little bit of laughs, a little bit of pain
I’m telling you my babe
It’s all in the game of

Love is
Whatever you make it to be
Sunshine
Instead of this cold lonely sea
So please baby
Try and use me for what I’m good for
It ain’t saying goodbye
It’s knocking down the door of your candy store

It just takes a little bit of this, a little bit of that
It started with a kiss
Now we’re up to bat
A little bit of laughs, a little bit of pain
I’m telling you baby
It’s all in the game of love
It’s all in this game of love

You roll me
Control me
Console me
Please hold me
You guide me
Divide me
Into me

So please tell me
Why don’t you come around no more?
‘Cause right now
I’m dying outside the door of your loving store
