Best Of Both Worlds
This live performance by Santana and John McLaughlin was at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Switzerland in 2011. If you don’t know who John is, he is a respected jazz composer out of England and is behind many works of jazz, rock, and even classical Indian music.
“To get an earful of how Santana’s and McLaughlin’s playing styles differed and meshed, listen to Love Devotion Surrender’s “A Love Supreme,” one of the set’s Coltrane compositions. Both are playing electric guitar at a superbly high level, trading phrases, with Santana panned hard left and McLaughlin hard right.” – Ted Drozdowski
Of course you can already guess that Santana tears it up like he always does with his signature sound and riffs! All you have to do is let the music do all the work as really the only lyrics to the song is the title itself over and over. Something that really stands out in this performance is the percussion. Well done!
