Approaching his 76th birthday, Sammy Hagar shows no signs of slowing down.
In a recent episode of drummer Kenny Aronoff’s podcast, Hagar expressed his desire to establish his own distinctive resort.
Hagar is well-versed in both relaxation and entertainment, making his envisioned vacation retreat a natural destination for numerous global fans.
Beyond his celebrated tenure in bands like Van Halen, Montrose, Chickenfoot, and his solo ventures, Hagar is also the driving force behind the Cabo Wabo brand. This business encompasses tequila, nightclubs, eateries, and bars, providing a fitting foundation for realizing his resort ambitions.
During the appearance on the podcast, Hagar unveiled his aspirations, stating:
“I want a resort — Sammy’s Resort World. Everything Sammy. Basically, Sammy’s Island. Like, if you went to my island, I’d have everything there for you. The food I like to eat, the drink I like to drink. You’ll be listening to my music and other people’s music that I like.”
In essence, this concept parallels Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, albeit with a distinctive Hagar twist, perhaps evoking a more exotic and exclusive ambiance. Not surprisingly, Hagar envisions his dream resort to be located by the shore.
“I like coasts. Just give me a beach. I have to have a coast,” he says, even contemplating the possibility of setting up in a locale such as Las Vegas, which has progressively become a bustling hub for tourist ventures. Hagar then amusingly pondered:
“[Las] Vegas has got everything. It’s got a beach. ‘You want to put it on the beach, well, we’ll make a beach. Come on, and we make a beach for you. A son of a beach.'”
