In a viral video spreading around the internet, the 51-year-old pop-punk legend and Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong randomly joined a cover band, Borderline Toxic, on stage while they were playing the 1994 smash “Basket Case” at a British pub.

The Green Day YouTube channel uploaded the video titled, “When you walk into a pub and the cover band starts playing your song.”

In the video, the band Borderline Toxic could be seen jamming out to the breakthrough Green Day hit while Armstrong darts up to the stage at Slim Jim’s Liquor Store.

Reflecting on the experience immediately after the show, the band said on Instagram that performing with the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer was “pure joy.”

Sharing a video on Instagram, they captioned it:

“The moment your band gets joined on stage by your childhood idol to sing their own song with you… in your favorite dive bar!!” The band added, “Billie Joe Armstrong, thank you, you legend! This was the first band to get me into rock when I was 11 years old, and I’m honestly just so made up. BRB crying/screaming/spewing.”

The viral video showed how happy and grateful the band was when their childhood idol, Armstrong, joined them on stage. They said it was an incredible experience that they will always remember, which highlights how music can bring people together and create something truly special when different musical styles come together.
