Rickey: A True Treasure

Originally added to Lynyrd Skynyrd as a session musician for vocals and drum work from southern rock band Blackfoot, Rickey Medlocke brings so much to the band’s sound and style. With not only stellar guitar work but incredible, melodic vocals like that in “The Seasons” from Skynyrd’s First: The Complete Muscle Shoals Album, Rickey adds a soft quality to the southern rock band that Ronnie and the boys always valued.

Interesting Fact: The album was certified Gold on 9/8/1978 and Platinum on 11/10/1978 by the RIAA.

Featuring unreleased and rare tracks from the Muscle Shoals days in the early 70’s, the album, originally titled Skynyrd’s First and…Last, was re-released 20 years later as The Complete Muscle Shoals abum. Providing musical art like “The Seasons,” “Was I Right Or Wrong,” White Dove” and others, the tracks brought fans closure following the first compilation’s untimely end when it went out of print.

With recordings from as early as 1971, this was an album to be fiercely grateful for, especially with a track like “The Seasons” letting Rickey Medlocke’s vast and varied talent shine!
