Fagen Cancels Remaining Tour Dates

Just days after the death of his friend and bandmate Walter Becker, Steely Dan’s Donald Fagen is facing yet another challenge as he’s forced to halt the remaining dates on his solo U.S. tour, citing illness. With only three dates left to go before the tour was slated to wrap Sunday, September 16th with a show in San Francisco, we can only imagine how difficult the decision to cancel the tour must have been.

Sources say Fagen came down with an “undisclosed illness” that led to the cancellation of last night’s concert in Portland, Oregon, prompting the decision to pull the remaining tour dates to allow him time to rest and recover; understandably, no details have been given as to what kind of illness has sidelined Mr. Fagen, but with the stress of grieving the loss of Becker, a brief run in Japan scheduled for next week followed by a return to the road with Steely Dan next month, the decision to stay off the road and recuperate was no doubt the right call to make.
