Come And Save Me Tonight!

“Angel” was written by Steven Tyler and Desmond Child. It was released as a single from Aerosmith’s ninth studio album “Permanent Vacation.” This power ballad eventually peaked at number 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100. For the year-end chart, it ranked 34th. And the song received heavy radio airplay.

It has a power ballad style and incorporates many of the characteristics of rock ballads, including driving electric guitar riffs by Joe Perry and Brad Whitford, pianos and violin sounds (from a keyboard), an emotional delivery of lyrics by Steven Tyler, a strong rhythm by bassist Tom Hamilton, and well-placed steady drum beats by Joey Kramer.

Even the music video was a success! They used the same director for “Dude (Looks Like A Lady” and did very well on MTV. At that point, this was their biggest hit in the US. This truly is one gem from the band.

You might notice some similarity between this song and the early Aerosmith hit “Dream On.” When Steven Tyler sat down to write with Desmond Child, he played him the chord to “Dream On” to get them started. They had the bones of “Angel” together a short time later.

This cover tune of Rachelle Amanda will surely give you goosebumps. She absolutely nailed it!
