The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced its highly anticipated class of 2025 inductees, honoring a diverse group of artists and industry figures who have significantly shaped the landscape of music. The induction ceremony is scheduled for November 8, 2025, in Los Angeles and will be streamed live on Disney+, with a later broadcast on ABC.

Performer Category Inductees

This year’s performer category features seven acts, including four first-time nominees, showcasing a broad spectrum of rock and related genres:

  • Bad Company: The British rock band, known for hits like “Can’t Get Enough,” finally earned induction on their first nomination after being eligible since 1999. The original lineup included Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke from Free, Mick Ralphs from Mott the Hoople, and Boz Burrell from King Crimson.
  • Chubby Checker: Famous for popularizing “The Twist,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 twice, Checker’s induction recognizes his pivotal role in early rock and roll dance culture. Despite years of campaigning for this honor, he is now finally acknowledged on his first nomination.
  • Joe Cocker: The late British blues-rock singer, known for his gritty voice and iconic covers like “With a Little Help from My Friends,” is inducted posthumously. His widow expressed that he would have been thrilled by the recognition.
  • Cyndi Lauper: The vibrant 1980s pop icon, currently on her farewell tour, is celebrated for her unique sound and cultural impact, especially with hits like “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”.
  • Outkast: The pioneering Southern rap duo, known for blending hip-hop with funk and soul, join the Hall on their first nomination, marking a significant inclusion of rap in the rock legacy.
  • Soundgarden: As one of the seminal bands of the grunge movement, Soundgarden’s induction honors their influence on rock music in the 1990s.
  • The White Stripes: The Detroit garage rock duo known for their raw sound and hits like “Seven Nation Army” also make the 2025 class.

Special Awards and Honorees

Beyond performers, the Hall of Fame also recognizes contributors in other key categories:

  • Musical Influence Award: Awarded to Salt-N-Pepa, the first female rap act to achieve gold and platinum status, and to the late singer-songwriter Warren Zevon, acknowledging their lasting impact on music culture.
  • Musical Excellence Award: Honoring behind-the-scenes legends Thom Bell (Philadelphia soul innovator), pianist Nicky Hopkins (noted for work with the Rolling Stones), and bassist Carol Kaye (a key member of the Wrecking Crew session musicians).
  • Ahmet Ertegun Award: Given to Lenny Waronker, a former Warner Bros. Records president known for his artist-friendly approach and role in the careers of Prince, R.E.M., Madonna, and others.

This diverse class reflects the Hall’s evolving recognition of various genres and contributions that have shaped rock and roll’s broad cultural influence. The 2025 inductees exemplify musical innovation, cultural impact, and enduring legacies that continue to inspire generations
