How To Save A Life
It’s not the big moments in your life that get under your skin and change your life forever, it’s the seemingly little ones. In the case of rock legend Peter Frampton, a chance encounter with an injured bird in dire need of a little kindness proved to be the catalyst for Frampton’s newest song “I Saved A Bird Today,” released just this morning and available on iTunes and Amazon. As the story goes, Peter was at home when the bird smashed into his window, knocking itself out; Peter’s efforts to save his new friend – successful, might we add – got the wheels turning, inspiring him to pick up his guitar and pen “I Saved A Bird Today” in honor of the exhilarating feeling that comes with having been able to save a life.
“We are all in uncharted territory right now. ‘Perhaps today, [the bird] was on her way to rescue me,’ which doesn’t seem too far off from what we all need. Politeness and caring for each other cannot be a thing of the past.
I can’t explain how great the feeling was to have saved a life. Peace, love and truth trump hate every time.”
A gorgeous acoustic driven piece that celebrates life and what Peter knows to be the reason we’re all here (“‘To care for one another is the reason we are here’—this lyric sums up the song for me”) together, “I Saved A Bird Today” kicks off gently with an acoustic guitar solo before giving way to a full band arrangement as Frampton extolls the merits of extending a little love and kindness to all we encounter, an act he says that humanity cannot afford to let go out of style. The perfect storm of stellar guitar work and deeply introspective lyrics, it doesn’t get any better than “I Saved A Bird Today”; check it out in the audio below, you’re going to absolutely love it and who knows – maybe it’ll inspire your very own act of kindness today!
