It’s Just Another Day With Paul McCartney Hits On Repeat!

“Another Day” is a mid-tempo tune which was recorded on February 8, 1971 and released on February 19, 1971 in the UK and February 22 in the US. The song not only highlights Paul’s incredible storytelling but also his smooth and lovely vocals. It was memorable because it was his first single as he embarked on a solo career and he wrote it along with Linda McCartney. Paul has played this several times during his concerts and live performances.

“Another Day” is written in an observational style reminiscent of “Eleanor Rigby”; Denny Seiwell, the drummer from the Ram Sessions, called it “‘Eleanor Rigby’ in New York City.” The lyrics describe the drudgery and sadness of an unnamed woman’s life at work and at home.

  • Number five in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100
  • Number two in the UK Singles Chart
  • Number four in the US Billboard Easy Listening

Although it wasn’t included in his second album, “Ram,” the re-releases made it as a bonus track. It was written in 1969 during the “Let It Be” sessions of the Beatles and during the “Ram” sessions, this song was the first one taped.

Paul’s wife, Linda McCartney, provided vocal harmonies on “Another Day”. Describing his and Linda’s distinctive harmonies, McCartney said “I wanted ‘our’ sound.” Paul was deliberately attempting to create a unique McCartney style, a musical identity outside of the Beatles.

Even years later, Paul McCartney proves that he still has it. What a brilliant musician!

And He Comes And He Stays
But He Leaves The Next Day,
So Sad.
Sometimes She Feels So Sad.

Every Day She Takes A Morning Bath She Wets Her Hair,
Wraps A Towel Around Her
As She’s Heading For The Bedroom Chair,
It’s Just Another Day.

Slipping Into Stockings,
Stepping Into Shoes,
Dipping In The Pockets Of Her Raincoat.

Ah, It’s Just Another Day. Du Du Du Du Du
It’s Just Another Day. Du Du Du Du Du
It’s Just Another Day.
