Paul McCartney and Wings – “With A Little Luck”

With A Little Luck, We Can Help It Out
After the end of The Beatles, Paul McCartney embarked on what would become an extremely successful solo career with Wings and released a string of successful hits under the name Paul McCartney and Wings, including ‘With A Little Luck’. Released in 1977 for the band’s album London Town, ‘With A Little Luck’ was their second biggest hit to date, following hot on the tail of ‘Mull Of Kintyre’.
This easy listening tune was written in Scotland but recorded in the Virgin Islands, and sums up the dreamy, ethereal feel of the 1970’s perfectly. I think if we were able to see inside of Paul McCartney’s soul, that’s exactly what it would look like! This was the happiest time of his life, and it definitely shines through his writing.
A Family Affair
Paul and Linda McCartney only spent a total of 10 nights apart during their 30 year marriage, and when working with Wings often took their children along for the ride.
If you look closely at the video for ‘With A Little Luck’, you can even catch a glimpse of the McCartney kids hiding behind Linda’s legs!
+ With A Little Luck lyrics +
With a little luck, we can help it out
We can make this whole damn thing work out
With a little love, we can lay it down
Can’t you feel the town exploding?
There is no end to what we can do together
There is no end
The willow turns his back on inclement weather
And if he can do it, we can do it, just me and you
And a little luck, we can clear it up
We can bring it in for a landing
With a little luck, we can turn it on
There can be no misunderstanding
There is no end to what we can do together
There is no end
The willow turns his back on inclement weather
We can do it, just me and you
With a little push, we could set it off
We can send it rocketing skywards
With a little love, we could shake it up
Don’t you feel the comet exploding?
With a little luck, with a little luck
With a little luck, a little luck, a little luck
With a little love, we can lay it down
Can’t you feel the town exploding?
With a little push, we could set it off
We could send it rocketing skywards
With a little love, we could shake it up
Don’t you feel the comet exploding forwards?
