“I Couldn’t Think, I Couldn’t Talk,” Reveals The Talk Show Host

The past year hasn’t been an easy one for Osbourne family matriarch Sharon Osbourne; this year alone she’s faced news of her husband Ozzy’s very public infidelity with celebrity hairstylist Michelle Pugh and held her family together during Ozzy’s 3 months as an inpatient in a treatment facility as he battles sex addiction, and we’ve wondered how she’s managed to keep such a brave face and hold it together. As Monday’s season 7 premiere of Sharon’s show The Talk revealed, she very nearly didn’t; last May saw the 63-year-old manager, entrepreneur and talk show host take an emergency 5 week leave of absence from The Talk due to a mental breakdown that landed her in a mental facility confused, unable to speak, and completely unaware of her surroundings for over three days.

“I had a complete and utter breakdown. I woke up in Cedars-Sinai hospital and for three days I knew nothing. I couldn’t think, I couldn’t talk,” she said.

“My brain shut down on me.”

Sharon’s breakdown stemmed from exhaustion and overworking herself as Ozzy’s manager, a talk show host, and a champion for various charities close to her heart and ultimately, the stress of everyday life just proved to be a little too much. Thankfully, Sharon has spent the last year under the care of therapists and doctors as she begins to rebuild her life from a place that’s centered and stable and as she told her co-hosts Aisha Tyler, Melissa Gilbert, Julie Chen and Sheryl Underwood, “I’m in control, it doesn’t control me and if I can help somebody else along the way, I would feel great to be able to give whatever advice or just what I went through to help somebody else so that they don’t feel ashamed.”

We wish Sharon all of the best, and we love her bravery for speaking out on such an intensely personal struggle!
