Ozzy Osbourne expressed his excitement for being inducted a second time into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
During a conversation with Billboard, The Prince of Darkness said he feels big and more than honored with the second induction.
Reflecting on his solo career, Ozzy mused:
“With every new music venture, there’s always a certain amount of surprise that comes when you see the fans embrace it because no one wants to make a record and have it flop. I feel like I was invited to a party in 1980, and it hasn’t stopped. Not bad for a guy who was fired from his last band.”
Ozzy’s Evolution on the Hall of Fame
While Ozzy Osbourne initially had reservations about the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, famously rejecting Black Sabbath’s 1999 nomination, his attitude shifted when the band was inducted in 2006. Over the years, he celebrated the recognition of his former guitarist, Randy Rhoads, who received the Musical Excellence Award in 2021.
Recently, Osbourne nervously awaited his own induction as a solo artist, acknowledging the formidable competition. “It’s been driving me mad,” he confessed in March. “It’s an honor that I’m nominated, but I’m not expecting to get in. There’s Mariah Carey, there’s Cher, Lenny Kravitz. I’m up against some serious people. If I get in, I get in. If I don’t, I don’t.”
