Ozzy Osbourne to Receive Lifetime Achievement Honor at the 2026 BRIT Awards

The BRIT Awards 2026 will honor one of rock music’s most influential and enduring figures, the late Ozzy Osbourne, with a Lifetime Achievement Award. The ceremony, set for Saturday, February 28, will celebrate a career that helped define British heavy metal and permanently altered the sound and spirit of rock music worldwide.

Osbourne — the founding frontman of Black Sabbath and a trailblazing solo artist — passed away last July. The award recognizes his unmistakable voice, fearless creativity, and lasting cultural impact across more than five decades in music.

A Star-Studded Tribute to Close the Ceremony

The ceremony will conclude with an all-star tribute performance honoring Osbourne’s legacy. At its core will be a specially arranged rendition of No More Tears, the title track from his multi-million-selling 1991 solo album.

Curated by Sharon Osbourne, the performance will feature musicians who played significant roles throughout Ozzy’s career, including Adam Wakeman, Robert Trujillo, Tommy Clufetos, and Zakk Wylde. Vocals will be led by Robbie Williams, personally invited by Sharon Osbourne for the tribute. Williams is both a longtime admirer of Osbourne’s music and a close friend of the Osbourne family, lending a personal dimension to the performance.

A Legacy That Reshaped Rock Music

Beyond his influence as a performer, Osbourne remains one of the most recognizable and influential figures in music history. He previously co-hosted the BRIT Awards in 2008 alongside Sharon, Kelly, and Jack Osbourne, underscoring his lasting mainstream appeal.

Stacey Tang, chair of the 2026 BRIT Awards committee and co-president of RCA Records at Sony Music U.K., highlighted Osbourne’s importance in a statement:

“Ozzy Osbourne has been a mighty force in modern music. Possessing an unmistakable voice and unique presence, he reshaped the sound and spirit of rock, inspiring generations of artists who followed. This Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a remarkable legacy built on originality and enduring influence that continues to connect with fans worldwide.”

Osbourne’s achievements are vast. He sold more than 100 million albums worldwide, released 19 studio albums and eight live albums with Black Sabbath, and helped create heavy metal anthems such as Paranoid, Iron Man, and Children of the Grave. As a solo artist, he released 13 studio albums, producing signature tracks like Crazy Train, Bark at the Moon, and “No More Tears,” while also launching the influential touring festival Ozzfest.

His accolades include five Grammy Awards, induction into both the UK Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame — with Black Sabbath and as a solo artist — and the Ivor Novello Award for Lifetime Achievement.

A Final Farewell and the 2026 BRITs Stage

Osbourne’s final live performance took place last summer during Back To The Beginning, a historic benefit concert at Villa Park in Birmingham that reunited him with Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward. The globally streamed event featured tributes from a cross-section of rock and metal’s elite, including Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Mastodon, and Anthrax, all celebrating the enduring power of Ozzy and Black Sabbath’s music.

The BRIT Awards 2026 with Mastercard will take place at Manchester’s Co-op Live, broadcast exclusively on ITV and ITVX, and hosted by Jack Whitehall. For the first time, U.K. audiences will also be able to stream the ceremony live via ITV’s YouTube channel, with international viewers tuning in through the BRITs’ official YouTube platform. Designed by Manchester-born fashion icon Matthew Williamson, this year’s trophy reinforces the event’s creative roots, while the ceremony itself is poised to stand as one of the most emotionally resonant BRITs in recent memory — honoring not just a year in music, but a legacy that continues to shape rock culture worldwide.
