The Reissue Is Almost Here
In celebration of Abbey Road‘s 50th anniversary, The Beatles are releasing a massive box set which will feature demos, recording sessions, new mixes by Giles Martin, and other previously unreleased material. Aside from sharing two versions of the opening track Come Together, The Beatles also uploaded an outtake of Oh! Darling labeled Take 4 and a 2019 mix of the song. You can check them out below.
As if that’s not enough, they also dropped a trailer for the brand new music video of George Harrison’s Here Comes The Sun. Giles Martin, son of the late George Martin, meticulously worked on the reissue. He told the Rolling Stone magazine, “They [The Beatles] came in knowing that this was the end. There was never the illusion that this was going to be the big start of something new.”
Abbey Road, which was a commercial success, was another Beatles masterpiece. Although initially, some critics were less than impressed with the album, it wasn’t long before the LP was recognized as one of the band’s finest works. It spawned several classic hits like Come Together, Something, and Here Comes The Sun. And the cover also became as iconic as the songs. And during the 50th anniversary of their photo shoot, several fans flocked to the famous London crosswalk to recreate the image.
