Check It Out

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Moving Pictures, Neil Peart’s final recorded drum solo will be included in the director’s cut of Rush’s 2019 concert film, Cinema Strangiato. It will be out in movie theaters worldwide on September 9 for one night only. Tickets go on sale on August 3 in the US, and September 1 in Canada.

Cinema Strangiato premiered in 2019, and it featured performance highlights from the band’s 2015 R40 Live tour, in addition to previously unseen backstage and soundcheck clips, candid moments, and interviews with famous Rush fans such as Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan, Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins and Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello.

Released via Trafalgar Releasing, the new director’s cut includes a revamped setlist and will now have performances of “One Little Victory”, “Red Barchetta”, and “Cygnus X-1/The Story So Far”. The last one features Peart’s last recorded drum solo. There are also additional tracks – “Animate”, “Closer To The Heart”, “Subdivisions” and “Tom Sawyer”. (bobbergdesigns)

Meanwhile, in a recent interview with guitarist Alex Lifeson, he said that “I think, really, Rush ended in 2015.”

“There’s no way Rush will ever exist again, because Neil’s not here to be a part of it,” he added. “That’s not to say that we can’t do other things, and we can’t do things that benefit our communities and all of that. I have lots of plans for that sort of thing that don’t necessarily include Geddy.”
