Neil Diamond and Amy MacDonald – “Shilo” Live
Two Brilliant Singer-Songwriters in One Timeless Track
“Shilo” was basically about a child with an imaginary friend which is reflective of Neil Diamond’s lonely childhood. With its introspective approach, this was said to be an autobiography which may not have topped the charts but is a fan favorite. It’s often included in Neil’s repertoire.
Diamond later said that he was at least partially addressing his younger self, and called the song “a feast for psychological interpretation.”
In this version, Neil collaborates with Scottish musician Amy Macdonald. At the age of 27, she has already sold a total of 9 million records all over the world. She maybe soft spoken but she sings with a contralto vocal range. Since 2008, she has been the recipient of numerous nominations and awards.
- Won Scottish Person of the Year from the Daily Record
- Won Best Newcomer International from the Echo Awards
- Won Best International Album – ‘This Is The Life’ from the Swiss Music Awards
- Won Best Album – ‘A Curious Thing’ from the Tartan Clef Award
She’s the perfect choice for one of Neil’s most loved tracks. She brought a different flavor to this classic!
