Miley Did Great But Dolly Parton’s Singing Is Simply Extraordinary

Miley Cyrus can hold her own when it comes to singing classic rock tunes – everyone already knows that. She’s even earned the praises of legends like Stevie Nicks. At the Grammy Awards in 2019, she famously joined godmother Dolly Parton to sing the latter’s iconic song “Jolene”. However, that wasn’t the first time they shared the stage.

Back in 2010, they performed a duet on the same song. And yes, it’s as good as you’d expect. In 2009, Parton explained to Good Morning America: “I’ve known her since she was a baby.”

“Her father’s a friend of mine, and when she was born, he said, ‘You just have to be her godmother,’ and I said, ‘I accept.’,” she added. “We never did do a big ceremony, but I’m so proud of her, love her and she’s just like one of my own.”

Talent recognizes talent because Parton called Cyrus “a fantastic singer and songwriter” and mused that “She [Cyrus] writes songs like she’s 40 years old! She’s really deep.”

Through the years, Parton and Cyrus continued to support each other and work together. Cyrus herself has nothing but love and admiration for Parton and she even sometimes asks her for advice.
