Mick Jagger Gets Engaged At 81

Surprise! Mick Jagger is officially off the market. The Rolling Stones frontman has been secretly engaged to his longtime partner, former ballerina Melanie Hamrick — and has been for a while now.

In a recent interview with Paris Match, Hamrick revealed that Jagger popped the question “two or three years” ago. The couple, who started dating back in 2014, share a son, Deveraux, born in 2016. While they’re clearly committed, there’s no rush down the aisle just yet.

“Maybe one day, maybe not,” Hamrick said of tying the knot. “We’re so happy in our current life that I’d be too afraid to change anything.”

Living Her Own Story

This would be Hamrick’s first marriage. Jagger, now 80, was previously married to Bianca Jagger from 1971 to 1978. But Hamrick doesn’t seem too concerned with labels—she’s focused on what works for them.

And despite the chatter about their age difference, the 37-year-old isn’t sweating it. She’s always been drawn to older men, and says it simply comes down to mindset.

“I think it’s a question of maturity,” she explained. “At 17, I was working, paying my own bills, and traveling the world, while most boys my age barely knew what they wanted to do with their lives. I had nothing in common with them.”

No Time for Haters

Hamrick made it clear she’s not letting critics get in her head. “Why worry about other people’s opinions, stop at what they think of us,” she said. “Am I happy? Yes. Are the people in my life happy? Yes. Am I hurting anyone? No. … As long as everyone is happy and healthy, everything is fine.”

From Ballet to Books

Since retiring from the stage, Hamrick has channeled her creativity into writing. She’s already published two adult fiction novels, First Position and The Unraveling, and continues to carve her own path outside the spotlight.
