He’ll Rejoin Them In A Week

At the Doobie Brothers show last night Michael McDonald was absent because of health issues. The other members addressed his absence by saying he was “not feeling well” and was currently “recuperating and isolating”. However, though his illness was not made public, the Doobie Brothers assured that he’d be well enough to join them on stage in a week.

Because of the rising cases of Covid-19, many members of the crowd immediately assumed that McDonald contracted the virus. Though his bandmates neither confirmed nor denied it, they did mention that the entire band and their crew have all been vaccinated.

McDonald was supposed to reunite with the Doobie Brothers last year for their 50th anniversary tour. It was postponed because of the global health crisis, and it only kicked off on August 22.

“I’m not thrilled about touring with everything with COVID,” Tom Johnston told USA Today, “but I also want to go out because we haven’t been on the road in a year and a half.”

“It’s so precarious, this whole situation (with COVID) nationwide, so we don’t know what to expect,” McDonald said. “But we’re going to take it one day at a time.”
