He Refused For A Reason

In a new interview with the Los Angeles Times, Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx revealed that the band offered David Lee Roth the support slot during their highly anticipated stadium tour with Def Leppard. But according to Sixx, Roth had a rule about which acts he will open for.

When Mötley Crüe made the offer, Roth told them: “I don’t open for bands that I influenced.”

And then, Poison and Joan Jett were both added to the bill. The outing has been postponed twice now, and it’s slated to kick off in June 2022. Sixx explained that postponing the trek was “not a hard decision to make when so many people’s lives are at risk.”

Recently, Roth made news after KISS’ Gene Simmons disparaged his performance skills during their farewell tour in early 2020 before the pandemic shut down live music. Simmons called him the “ultimate frontman” during his heyday, but then likened modern-day Roth to a “bloated naked Elvis on the bathroom floor.”

Roth responded by spamming his own Instagram page with 18 black and white photos of a kid wearing sunglasses and flipping the bird. Simmons then went on to apologize for his previous comments. He said, “I am so sorry and ashamed, actually, that I hurt David’s feelings.”
