Metallica has released a video performance of “If Darkness Had A Son,” taken from their newly-released EP The Amsterdam Sessions.
The song marks the third single from the band’s new EP which featured four songs from their Amsterdam Sessions set. Other tracks included are the classics “Master Of Puppets,” “Nothing Else Matters,” and “Lux AEterna.”
The Amsterdam Sessions was released on June 14 and is now available exclusively via Amazon Music.
Meanwhile, Metallica is set to play the final two dates of the opening leg of the M72 World Tour in support of their album 72 Seasons in Gothenburg, Sweden this weekend. While they will launch a North American series of shows at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ in early August.
72 Seasons was released on April 14. Produced by Greg Fidelman, James Hetfield, and Lars Ulrich, the record marks the band’s first new studio album since 2016’s Hardwired…To Self-Destruct. Hetfield said about the album title:
“72 seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves.
“The concept that we were told ‘who we are’ by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are. I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today. Much of our adult experience is re-enactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry.”
