Members of Iron Maiden, Whitesnake, and Evanescence got together remotely to perform the Paul McCartney & Wings 1973 classic “Live and Let Die.” It’s part of an ongoing series titled “One Minute Jam” and this particular video features Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain, Whitesnake guitarist Joel Hoekstra, and Evanescence guitarist Jen Majura who also took over the lead vocal duties.

Written by Paul and Linda McCartney, “Live and Let Die” is the theme song of the 1973 James Bond movie of the same name. Paul teamed up with former Beatles producer George Martin for this track and it became the first rock song to open a James Bond film.

When McCartney was invited to write the theme song, he was given a copy of Ian Fleming’s novel. He told Mojo magazine in 2010, “I got the book and it’s a very fast read. On the Sunday, I sat down and thought, OK, the hardest thing to do here is to work in that title. I mean, later I really pitied who had the job of writing Quantum Of Solace. So I thought, Live And Let Die, OK, really what they mean is live and let live and there’s the switch.

So I came at it from the very obvious angle. I just thought, ‘When you were younger you used to say that, but now you say this.'”
